"PXE-E3F: TFTP packet size is invalid" SYMPTOM When being started, the PXE client comes up with the PXE copyright message and completes the DHCP phase, but then displays: PXE-E3F: TFTP packet size is invalid Depending on the PXE client's system setup boot device list configuration, the PC then either stops or tries to boot from the next boot device in the system setup boot device list. CAUSE The "PXE-E3F" error indicates that the PXE client reveiced a TFTP packet with an invalid packet size. Normally, the maximum supported TFTP packet size is 1456 bytes. This problem may occur when TFTP option negotiation between the PXE client and TFTP server fails. RESOLUTION Check the TFTP server log for error or warning messages. Use a TFTP server that supports TFTP option negotiation. Update the PC BIOS, PXE code and/or TFTP Server software to the latest version. |
